Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 years since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
