Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
